Ear Surgery
(Otoplasty)
Procedure:
This is a very important aesthetic procedure in young children
to set back prominent ears closer to the head or to reduce the
size of the large (bat) ears. These children are usually between
the ages of 4 - 14 years and are rather conscious of this at school
or at play. A strip of the skin with cartilage is trimmed from
behind the ear and the flat hollow of the upper ear is given its
regular contours. The angle between the ear and the head is reduced
with special stitch.
Duration of Surgery:
2 - 3 hours for both ears
Duration of Results:
Permanent.
